NEW EXTINGUISHER SYSTEM PRODUCTS FROM LIFELINE

In our continual quest to develop more efficient fire suppression systems Lifeline is pleased to announce that it successfully conducted FIA fires tests last week in the presence of The British Standards institute with its latest evolution of the already successful Zero 360 system. Lifeline Zero 360 systems are in worldwide use with the majority of major championship teams. The new system is now considerably more compact thanks to the use of 3M’s™ latest Halon replacement Novec™ 1230. The Novec™ 1230 extinguishing agent works primarily by removing the heat from the fire; on discharge Novec™ creates a gaseous mixture with air, giving a high heat capacity, absorbing the fire’s energy. Novec™ 1230 has Zero ODP and has no adverse effects on delicate electronic equipment. The latest generation of Zero 360 systems will be available in either 2.25kg or 3.0kg sizes with electric, mechanical and remote charge actuation. The installation remains identical to the existing Zero 360 system, with the only noticeable change being the cylinder, which is just over 25% smaller than the original. Pricing will remain unchanged for 2008, and we expect to be in production within the next six weeks. Data sheets on the new product will soon be available and will be forwarded to our agents and customer teams once ready. With ever higher demands from race car constructors for lighter, smaller and more efficient fire systems, we have also developed a new on-board fire suppression system to be called Zero “ZERO”, designed specifically for single seaters and sports prototypes. Zero “ZERO” uses only 1.5 kg of the Novec™ 1230 fire suppression agent produced by 3M™. Distributing 1.0kg of agent to the engine bay area and 0.5kg to the cockpit, we believe this new system is the smallest and lightest system ever to be presented for FIA approval. The Novec™ fire suppressant agent is deployed using Lifeline’s proven compression discharge technology, giving a constant spray pattern through Lifeline’s latest dual outlet nozzle (Patent applied for), distributing only pure extinguishing agent and ensuring excellent fire knock down and fire out properties, irrespective of the car’s attitude. As well as being very efficient a major benefit of Novec™ 1230 is the fact that it is classed as a non hazardous product, as it is supplied in liquid (un-pressurised) form. This reduces transportation costs and will also allow for far simpler refilling procedures. As well as being tested on unleaded racing fuel Zero “ZERO” has been tested on both bio ethanol and diesel fuel fires demonstrating impressive results.
